Drop-In Art Saturdays

Join museum educators in the museum's lobby from 10 a.m. to Noon on the 3rd Saturday of each month for this new family art program that is fun for all ages.  Your family can drop-in, make and take fun art creations home with you. All children should be accompanied by an adult. Crafts available while supplies last.

 Drop In Art Projects

Our Drop In Art project for February will be kirigami trees with guest artist Michael Auger. Kirigami is a variation of origami that includes cutting of the paper (from Japanese "kiru", meaning "to cut", and "gami", meaning "paper"). Children will create their own kirigami tree and decorate it.

This month's Drop in Art will be soap making with guest artist MariamSatchell of Purple Lily Studios. Kids will create a small soap figurineand then pour melt soap on top of it to make a full bar! This month's Drop in Art coincides with Winter Wonderland,our free family holiday event! Come make a flattie penguin ornament anda tissue paper wreath for your Drop in Art project, then enjoy somecocoa and cookies, take a picture with Santa, and soak in the magic ofour Winter Wonderland. Join artist Gabby Cammarata in a decoy themed project in support of the Expo Chesapeake Challange this month with a styrofoam body Bufflehead Decoy in the North Carolina style. Join Ward Museum staff as we assemble and paint these life-size working decoys.

 Stash your trash  The Ward Museum is proud to present “Stash your Trash”as this Month’s Drop in Art Activity. Come Join the Ward Museum Stafffor an exciting lesson on how to build your own crab out of recycledmaterials. This is an exciting activity that also helps promote theenrichment of our environment. Bring your own recyclables, somematerials will be available. Don’t miss out!

July 18- Join artist Jan Bain for a lesson on how to make a beautiful and unique watercolor piece of art. Learn the basics of watercolor while making a piece of art that will look lovely hanging in your home.
