Education Summer Camps - Spend a week creating something beautiful and fun with the Ward Museum summer camp programs. Campers ages 6 - 12 can have fun at our Art Camp. Nurture your little artist.  Familiarize them with an array of media and techniques, from nature illustrations to art installations.  Whether it’s mixing colors, sculpting clay, folding origami, or crafting pieces from recycled materials, they’ll learn it all and have a fabulous time too! Camp will be one week Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, dates to be announced.

Campers ages 13 - 18 can move up from the smart phone camera and master the art of the still image with the Ward Museum.  Learn the functions and controls of digital SLR cameras, develop composition techniques, and practice with on-location shoots in great places. Camp will be one week Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, dates to be announced.

Cost for either camp is $100 for Museum Family Members; $125 for Non-members.

Homeschool Programs at The Ward Museum - Are you a homeschool parent seeking out exciting opportunities for your child?  Especially those hands-on, experimental, science-focused lessons you know your kid needs?  The Ward Museum has a NEW homeschool program providing just that.

Each month, we will be providing a new lesson.  The lessons are interconnected and progressive, but are self-contained enough to provide easy access to new students.  We are basing our lessons on the STREAM acronym: Science, Technology, Reading, Environment (normally Engineering), Art, and Math.  The lessons are designed to be interdisciplinary, covering multiple subject areas.  Each lesson will consist of four main components: (1) an introduction to the day’s activity and a review of the previous months, (2) a hands-on experience/activity, which could be indoors, outdoors, or both, (3) a debrief in which we will share results and review, and (4) a take-home activity that reinforces what we discussed in the session.

The 1st Thursday of every month will be a lesson for children 5-11, meeting at the Ward Museum.  The 2nd Thursday will be dedicated to children 12 and up. The time on Thursday will be the same for both ages: 2 pm for 2 hours.  The cost for the program is $12 per lesson for each student.  Registration is NOT REQUIRED – just show up and pay when you arrive.  (And for those of you with children outside or across this age divide, don’t fret!  We will host the learning session in one area of the museum while the parent/guardian can entertain the other child in another area for no fee.)
